About Us

From Our Family to Yours

History

During the 1930’s Jack Pollin, an enterprising young man and father of two, moved his family to Washington, DC seeking better employment opportunities. Jack had been a sheet metal worker, truck driver and grocery store operator. However, his primarily focus was centered upon the residential housing market. In the early 1940’s Jack recognized the enormous demand for more housing in the area to accommodate the thousands of soldiers returning home from Europe and the South Pacific. This increasing demand for housing was further impacted by the large number of federal civilian employees working in support of the war effort. In 1942 Jack obtained a bank loan to construct forty residential apartment units in Washington, DC. He used his knowledge and connections in the local construction industry to build the Danbury Apartments and thus, Pollin Properties was born. The Nalbert Apartments were constructed in 1949. In 1977 Jack’s son Albert assumed control of the family business and expanded the Danbury Apartment along Galveston Street in 1983. Albert’s son Andy entered the family business in 2016 to oversee all maintenance operations. In 2017 Andy’s daughter Samantha was retained as legal counsel for the company. Four generations of Pollin family members ensures our residents will continue to receive the finest customer service experience 24/7.
